IDIG Riesling dry Grand Cru, VDP.GROSSE LAGE 0.75L

The IDIG is the flagship of Weingut A. Christmann — a Riesling Grosses Gewächs from the VDP.Große Lage Idig in Königsbach, one of the most renowned single sites in the Palatinate. The soils of limestone and terra fusca, plus old, deeply rooted vines: this results in a combination that gives the wine a density and minerality that you feel immediately in the glass.

Christmann is one of the defining wineries of the Palatinate, biodynamically farmed and for years a driving force behind the VDP quality system. The Idig brings this consistently to the bottle: aromas of yellow stone fruit, quince, and citrus zest, underpinned by a fine herbal spice and a clearly mineral pull. The acidity is precise and clear, the body substantial — the finish long, salty, with a hint of flint.

On the table, this Riesling makes the most impact when it is on eye level with the food: cod on beurre blanc, veal sweetbreads, lobster, or a mature Comté. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C. Best decanted or served in a large white wine glass so that the aroma profile can fully unfold.
