Mulled Wine Herb Elixir

A high-proof spiced liqueur from Germany that brings the aromas of the Advent season into the bottle. Mulled wine herbs, gingerbread spices and winter herbs form the basis, bottled by Dr. Jaglas.

The list of ingredients reads like a walk through a Christmas market: bitter orange and orange peels, cloves, cardamom, star anise, anise, coriander, cinnamon bark, licorice root and vanilla pods, plus walnut shells and red grapes. In the glass, cinnamon and clove stand alongside fresh orange zest. Anise, star anise and licorice provide the spicy licorice side, vanilla rounds it off, and the walnut shells add a slightly tart nuance.

Recommendation: neat at room temperature or on ice as a wintery digestif after a meal. A dash in hot red wine gives your mulled wine extra spice. It also goes well in hot apple juice or over vanilla ice cream. Served in small glasses, it becomes a companion for cold evenings.
