Givry AC 0.75L
Givry is one of the quiet addresses of the Côte Chalonnaise — located south of the great Côte de Beaune, with limestone soils and slopes that give Pinot Noir exactly the conditions it needs: good drainage, sufficient sun, cool nights. Joseph Drouhin, one of Burgundy's most renowned négociant houses based in Beaune, sources grapes for this Givry from south to southeast-facing sites around the appellation.
The glass reveals what the vintage has contributed: ripe red and black fruit — cherry, blackberry, a hint of plum — with the earthy undertone typical of Givry. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, the acidity present enough to give the wine structure without being sharp. The finish is medium-long, fruity, with a slightly mineral aftertaste.
On the table, it goes particularly well with Coq au vin, roasted saddle of lamb with herbs, or a ripe Époisses. Drinking temperature: 16–17 °C. Those looking for a Burgundy that isn't too heavy but don't want to miss out on Burgundian finesse will find an accessible entry into the Côte Chalonnaise here.
