Giovanni Neri Rosso di Montalcino DOC Tuscany 0.75L

A Rosso di Montalcino that is more than just an entry into the Casanova di Neri house: The Giovanni Neri was created for the winery's 50th anniversary and bears the name of the founder who built the domain in southeastern Tuscany.

Casanova di Neri is one of the addresses in Montalcino that has stood for artisanally precise Sangiovese wines for decades. The grapes for this Rosso come from a single vineyard with 45-year-old vines — an age that delivers more concentrated grapes with naturally lower yields than young plantings. The site impresses with exceptional soil structure and ideal orientation, both decisive for the quality of the Sangiovese in this appellation.

In the glass, a medium-weight red wine with the typical Sangiovese structure appears: aromas of sour cherry, dried rose petal, and a hint of tobacco, carried by lively acidity and firmly integrated tannins. The finish is dry and long with a slight iron minerality — a feature of the soils around Montalcino.

Served at 16–18 °C, it goes well with wild boar salami, ribollita, or a Tuscan Pecorino stagionato. Those planning a Bistecca alla Fiorentina have a reliable companion at the table with this Rosso.
