Gimmeldinger Schlössel Spätburgunder QW Palatinate VDP.Erstes Gewächs 0.75L
The Gimmeldinger Schlössel is one of the classified First Growths of the Palatinate — a site on the southern Mittelhaardt that lies directly below the renowned Meerspinne and brings similarly structured soils: gentle slope, good drainage, plenty of sun.
Weingut A. Christmann from Gimmeldingen is one of the defining names of the Palatinate. Steffen Christmann cultivates the sites biodynamically, is Demeter-certified, and was long-time president of the VDP. The wines stand for a precise, characterful expression of their respective origin — without gimmickry.
In the glass, the Pinot Noir shows the typical profile of the Mittelhaardt: sour cherry and red plum, plus violets and a hint of earth. The body is medium-weight, the tannins fine and well-integrated, the acidity lively without sharpness. The finish is long and spicy.
Serve it at 16–17 °C — with game poultry, braised lamb shoulder, or a ripe Tomme. It also makes a fine standalone evening wine at the table.
