Gevry Chambertin Cuvée Bertin AC 0.75L
Gevrey-Chambertin is the epicenter of the Côte de Nuits — hardly any appellation in Burgundy stands so much for depth, structure, and the earthy elegance of Pinot Noir. The Cuvée Bertin from Virgile Lignier-Michelot comes from a domaine that has been one of the most meticulous houses in the village for generations.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. The nose brings dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of violet, underpinned by fine notes of forest floor and clove — typical for the heavy, iron-rich soils of Gevrey. On the palate, it has a medium to full body, tannins with substance but without harshness, and a lively acidity that gives the wine drive and length. The finish remains present with a mineral, slightly smoky aftertaste.
It pairs well with game dishes such as saddle of venison or jugged hare, but also with braised beef cheeks or a ripe Époisses. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C — in case of doubt, it is better to pour it slightly cooler and let it open up in the glass.
