Gevrey-Chambertin AC 0.75L
Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the most renowned addresses in the Côte de Nuits — and Maison Joseph Drouhin, based in Beaune since 1880, is one of the houses that has helped shape this reputation over generations. This village wine shows what Pinot Noir from the heart of Burgundy can achieve: depth without heaviness, structure without hardness.
In the glass, it glows in a rich ruby red. The bouquet opens with black cherry and wild blackberry, plus licorice and a hint of earth — typical for the iron-rich limestone marl soils of Gevrey. On the palate, it shows the combination of ripe fruit and firm but well-integrated tannin characteristic of the appellation. The finish is long and spicy.
Good with Coq au Vin, braised lamb shoulder, or a ripe Époisses. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C — if too warm, the wine loses its freshness; if too cold, the tannins seem angular. Decanting it gives it time to fully unfold.
