Geltz/Zilliken Saarburger Riesling dry
A Riesling that perfectly captures the strengths of the Saar: firm acidity, clear fruit, and a mineral character.
Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken is one of the most renowned wineries in the Saar region. The Zilliken family has cultivated steep slopes around Saarburg for generations, including the famous Saarburger Rausch vineyard. Their focus is exclusively on Riesling – vinified with the aim of capturing the cool minerality of the slate soil in the bottle.
In the glass, the Saarburger Riesling trocken displays aromas of grapefruit, green apple, and a hint of lychee. The acidity is precise and invigorating without being harsh – typical for the Saar region, where cooler temperatures allow for longer ripening periods and finer acid structures. The finish is fresh, with a subtle slate note in the background.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2028.
Goes well with grilled fish, goat cheese, asparagus with hollandaise sauce or Asian dishes with citrus notes.
