Gassier Embruns de Viognier

A Viognier from Costières de Nîmes in southern France, which shows the variety at its best: aromatically present, but not heavy.

Michel Gassier manages his Château Mourgues du Grès vineyard biodynamically – the soils around Nîmes, a mix of siliceous and limestone, give the wines a mineral tension that ensures freshness and contour in rich varieties such as Viognier.

In the glass, the Embruns opens with aromas of apricot, white peach, and a hint of mandarin. A slightly salty, mineral note adds lightness to the full body. The acidity is lively enough to prevent the wine from feeling heavy despite its typical varietal richness. The finish remains fruit-forward and lingers longer than one would expect at this price point.

Serving suggestion: Serve well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with chicken with Provençal herbs, fried prawns with garlic butter, or a creamy goat cheese. Also a good choice as an aperitif.

Michel Gassier

Michel Gassier – he's not just a winemaker who makes wine. He's someone who listens. Listens to what the earth wants to tell him.

In Vauvert, in the south of France, not far from the Camargue, Michel Gassier works with a terroir he doesn't want to dominate, but to understand. Regenerative agriculture, reforestation, living soils – for him, not a trend, but a philosophy. The wine should sound like a score composed by nature. And him? A conductor, not a composer.

What goes into the glass carries this spirit: vibrant, authentic, with depth.
