The Vieille Poire Williams from Etter is an aged pear brandy from Central Switzerland: golden brown in the glass, with 40% vol. and the clear fruit core of the Williams pear.

The Etter Söhne AG Distillerie Zug processes fully ripe Valais Williams pears. For a 70 cl bottle, it takes about 11 kilograms of fruit. After distillation, the heart of the brandy ages for 3 to 5 years, partly in 50-liter demijohns, partly in 225-liter French oak barrels. Only then are both batches brought together.

In the nose, an aroma-rich scent of ripe pear appears, plus wood and vanilla from the cask aging. On the palate, the brandy remains harmonious and elegant: delicate pear fruit, carried by subtle oak, with a long, balanced finish.

We recommend it neat at room temperature in a small tulip glass, as a digestif after a meal, or with a piece of dark chocolate.
