Diffonty Cuvée du Vatican

A Châteauneuf-du-Pape that highlights warmth and spice: The Cuvée du Vatican by Jean-Marc Diffonty is full-bodied, yet remains elegant and has a distinct spicy note.

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation is located in the southern Rhône and is considered one of the defining origins for Grenache. Here, the grape variety stands for dense, warm fruit and plenty of body. The wine carries the AOP Châteauneuf-du-Pape and shows the Rhône style with substance and spice.

On the nose, preserved fruits and cherry liqueur meet pepper and tobacco. On the palate, the wine is spicy and full; the dark fruit is accompanied by tart tobacco notes and lingers on the finish.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with leg of lamb with Provençal herbs, grilled entrecôte, or braised game. A strong, aged hard cheese also pairs well with it.
