Crystal Head Vodka

Crystal Head is a Canadian vodka that stands out due to its striking skull bottle and an unusual production philosophy: no glycerin additives, no artificial flavorings.

Co-founded by actor Dan Aykroyd, the vodka is produced in Newfoundland. The base is Peaches-and-Cream corn from the Canadian prairies. After seven-fold distillation, the distillate runs through Herkimer diamonds — 500-million-year-old quartz rock — before it is brought to drinking strength with glacier water from Newfoundland. The absence of additives is not a marketing decision, but the actual product statement.

In the glass, Crystal Head shows itself to be neutral with a soft, creamy texture, a hint of grain, and a long, clean finish without heat or sharpness. This clear character makes it a solid companion in cocktails where the vodka should leave room — whether in an Espresso Martini, Cosmopolitan, or Moscow Mule. Neat, well-chilled, it also works.

The bottle has cult status: a molded skull made of clear glass that unfolds its own effect on the table or on the shelf.
