Côte de Nuits Villages AC 0.75L
A classic introduction to the world of the Côte de Nuits: Joseph Drouhin's Villages cuvée shows how precise Pinot Noir from the northern tip of the Côte d'Or can be — without the price tag of the Premiers Crus.
Maison Joseph Drouhin has been one of the most renowned négociant houses in Burgundy since 1880. The family has been farming its vineyards according to biodynamic principles for decades and sources grapes for its Régionale cuvées from carefully selected sites around Fixin and Brochon — villages at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, where the limestone-clay soil gives the Pinot Noir an earthy depth.
It glows in a clear ruby red in the glass. The nose is precise: wild cherry, a hint of licorice, and some violets in the background. On the palate, it shows the typical Burgundy structure — medium body, fine tannins, and lively acidity that keeps the finish fresh.
Served at 16–17 °C, it pairs well with Coq au Vin, grilled rack of lamb with herbs de Provence, or a ripe Époisses. It also makes a great uncomplicated companion to mushroom risotto.
