Corton Clos du Roi AC Grand Cru 0.75L

The Corton Clos du Roi is one of the most coveted Grand Cru sites of the Côte de Beaune — a Pinot Noir that combines the power of the Corton mountain with Burgundian finesse. Domaine Thénard, rooted in Givry for generations and with parcels in some of the best sites in Burgundy, cultivates one of the classic addresses of the Clos du Roi here.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of dark cherry, cassis, and a hint of violets, underpinned by fine earthy notes — that characteristic minéralité that reflects the Corton soil of limestone and iron oxide. On the palate, the wine appears structured, with present but well-integrated tannins and a lively acidity that gives the body tension. The finish is long, spicy, and slightly smoky.

It is best served at 16–17 °C, ideally after decanting for an hour. At the table, it pairs with braised lamb shoulder, wild boar saddle with mushrooms, or a mature Époisses.
