Clos de Vougeot AC Grand Cru 0.75L
The Clos de Vougeot is one of the best-known sites in Burgundy: a walled Grand Cru vineyard between Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, whose history dates back to the 12th century. Maison Joseph Drouhin, based in Beaune since 1880, manages plots here with the claim of bringing the site's peculiarity into the glass as directly as possible.
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, raspberry and wild cherry dominate, underpinned by an earthy, slightly floral undertone that is typical of the Côte de Nuits. On the palate, fine, silky tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with a trace of undergrowth.
It is best served at 16–17 °C — with wild duck, braised venison loin, or a ripe Époisses. A slowly cooked lamb loin with a herb crust also fits its structure excellently.
