Château Patache d'Aux Cru Bourgeois AC Médoc

A Médoc with structure and a cool contour: The Château Patache d'Aux from Bégadan in the northern Médoc stands for the powerful, precise side of the left bank of Bordeaux. The Cru Bourgeois winery relies on a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

The vines root in very clayey soils with a superficial limestone slab. This gives the wine density and structure, plus a cool line. The aging took place in French oak barriques, which contribute fine roasted aromas.

In the scent, blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum meet tobacco, clove, dried herbs, and cedar wood. On the palate, the wine is dry, concentrated, and multi-layered: ripe tannins, juicy fruit, spicy depth, and a long finish.

Recommendation: Decant it shortly before serving and drink it at 16 to 18 °C. It goes with grilled entrecôte, leg of lamb with rosemary, or a strong hard cheese like Comté.
