Château Olivier AOC Pessac-Léognan Rouge GC Classé

Château Olivier is one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux—the site dates back to the Middle Ages, and Edward of Woodstock, the Black Prince, is said to have hunted here in the 14th century. What ends up in the glass today is the result of extensive investments in the 1990s: soil analyses, clearing, and replanting. Since then, the estate has been one of the most trusted names in the Pessac-Léognan appellation—classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves.

The red is based on Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by the Bordeaux grape varieties typical of Pessac-Léognan. On the nose, it displays dark cassis, cedar, and a hint of graphite—the mineral signature of the Graves soils, composed of gravel and sand over clay. On the palate, it offers structured tannins, medium body, and a long, slightly earthy finish. Not a heavyweight, but a wine with backbone and a clear sense of origin.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with leg of lamb with herbs de Provence, aged Cantal, or a classic Bordeaux entrecôte. Those who are patient will be rewarded with further aging—drinking window until 2030.
