Châteauneuf-du-Pape with real substance: powerful structure, dark fruit, and the typical garrigue-spicy profile of the southern Rhône — classically vinified, with potential for the cellar.

Château Maucoil is located north of Orange, in the heart of the appellation. The vineyards are among the driest in the region, characterized by the famous galets roulés — those round limestone pebbles that store heat during the day and release it at night. The winery has earned a firm place among reliable Châteauneuf addresses through consistent quality: the 2014 vintage was rated 92 points by Wine Spectator, and the 2015 vintage received 92 points from Robert Parker.

In the glass: deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, blackberry, black olive, and dried thyme, plus a hint of leather spice. On the palate, the wine shows ripe, velvety tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a long, slightly peppery finish — the Grenache provides the fullness, while dark blending varieties like Syrah and Mourvèdre contribute structure and depth.
