Chateau Malbec Bordeaux

An approachable Bordeaux with a clear fruit line – structured enough for the cellar, ready to drink tonight.

SC Du Lort is located in southwestern Bordeaux, where Malbec has traditionally been cultivated alongside Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon – long before the grape variety began its triumphant march through Argentina. Its appearance in the wine's name indicates its high proportion in the blend and thus the characteristic profile of this wine: more body, more color, and a touch more depth than a pure Merlot Bordeaux.

In the glass, it shines a vibrant ruby red with a violet rim. The nose offers blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of plum jam, underpinned by subtle toasty aromas from the oak aging. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm but not harsh tannins; the fruit lingers through to the finish. Decanter awarded this wine 95 out of 100 points – a remarkable result for an everyday Bordeaux.

Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with herbs de Provence, aged Cantal, or a grilled steak. Drinking window: now until 2028.

SC Du Lort

Château du Lort lies just minutes from the heart of Bordeaux – yet it feels like another world. Nestled among forests and 22 hectares of vines, the Castel family has cultivated a winery since 1984 that follows its own tranquil rhythm.

This attitude is clearly evident in the glass: dark berry fruits, a hint of vanilla, gently toasted notes – and beneath them a silky tannin structure that gains depth step by step. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot combine to create a Bordeaux Supérieur that doesn't claim elegance, but simply possesses it.

Sustainably certified since 2012 – no greenwashing, but a lived respect for soil and nature.
