Château La Mondotte Grand Cru Classé AC Saint-Émilion 0.75L
La Mondotte is not a wine for coincidences. The micro-winery on the plateau of Saint-Émilion covers only about four hectares; the vines stand on one of the most limestone-rich soils of the appellation — it is precisely this subsoil that unmistakably shapes the character of the wine. Since its first independent bottling in 1996, La Mondotte has been one of the most sought-after addresses on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, classified as a Grand Cru Classé.
In the glass, it shows deep purple with violet reflections. On the nose, dense cassis, blackberry, and violets, underpinned by licorice and a pronounced mineral limestone note that makes the terroir character immediately palpable. On the palate, the wine appears concentrated and dense, the tannins are firm but well-integrated, the structure long and precise. The finish carries the mineral line further and leaves a dry, lingering impression.
Best served at 16–18 °C — with rack of lamb with a herb crust, mature Comté, or a game terrine. Decanting the wine for an hour before serving gives the aromas time to fully unfold.
