Château de Pez Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel AC Saint-Estèphe 0.75L
Saint-Estèphe stands for structure and depth – Château de Pez delivers both with its Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, which is one of the most reliable addresses in the appellation.
The winery looks back on one of the longest histories in the Médoc: vines were already being cultivated here in the 17th century. Today, Château de Pez belongs to the Champagne-Louis-Roederer group, which provides the estate with the necessary investment power for precise vineyard work. The soils of gravel and clay on a calcareous subsoil give the Cabernet Franc the characteristic mineral austerity that distinguishes Saint-Estèphe from its more southern neighbors.
In the glass, the wine shows dark berry fruit – blackberry and blackcurrant –, underpinned by graphite and a hint of dried herbs. The tannins are firm and even, the acidity present without sharpness, the finish long and spicy with a slightly earthy note that is typical for the appellation.
Serve it at 16–18 °C, ideally after an hour of decanting. At the table, it pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter, or hard cheeses like Comté or Cantal.
