Château Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse

A Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion that shows the range of the right bank: dense fruit, earthy depth, and a structure that rewards patience.

The Château is located on one of the best limestone terroirs of Saint-Émilion — soils with Asteria limestone that give the Merlot a distinct minerality that you feel on the first sip. The cuvée of the 2017 vintage consists of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, aged 16 to 18 months in new French oak barrels.

In the glass, Crème de Cassis, black raspberry, and a hint of bittersweet chocolate appear, underpinned by fresh herbs and a distinct minerality. The palate is dense, the tannins firm but polished, the finish long with a spicy, slightly smoky note.

Serve it at 17–18 °C with lamb saddle with rosemary, braised beef shoulder, or mature Comté. Anyone opening it now should decant it at least two hours before drinking.
