Château Beau-Site

Saint-Estèphe is the northernmost of the major Médoc appellations – known for wines with more structure and tannin backbone than their southern neighbors Pauillac or Margaux. Château Beau-Site is one of the classic, more bourgeois wines of this appellation.

The vineyard is situated on the high plateau of Saint-Estèphe, where heavy clay soils form the basis for profound, age-worthy red wines. The blend is traditionally based on Cabernet Sauvignon with a proportion of Merlot – a profile typical of the appellation and giving the wine its characteristic backbone.

In the glass, the Beau-Site displays dark cassis and blackberry, underpinned by cedar, graphite, and a hint of dried herbs. The tannins are firm and grainy—typical of Saint-Estèphe—but with a little aeration, they blend into a smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long, with a subtle minerality.
