Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru AC Grand Cru 0.75L
The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru from Leflaive & Associés shows the red side of a house that is primarily known for its white Burgundy wines — and that is exactly where the appeal of this bottle lies.
Leflaive & Associés, the négoce line of the famous Puligny-Montrachet winery, sources grapes from carefully selected sites in the Côte d'Or. With around 31 hectares, the Charmes-Chambertin is the largest Grand Cru site in Gevrey-Chambertin — on deeper, more clay-rich soils than the neighboring Chambertin itself, which gives the wine a sensual, more accessible structure.
In the glass, a classic Gevrey Pinot Noir appears: aromas of dark cherry, cassis, and violets, underscored by a hint of undergrowth and fine spice notes. The palate is velvety, with silky tannin and a lively acidity that gives the wine tension and length. The finish is persistent, with a mineral, slightly earthy aftertaste.
Best served at 16–18 °C — with game poultry, duck breast with Pinot Noir jus, or an aged Époisses. For those who don't need an occasion: a good glass is enough.
