Chardonnay Sülzner Weg dry QW Palatinate 0.75L

A Chardonnay from the Palatinate that shows what calcareous soil can extract from this grape variety: structured, clear, without the heaviness sometimes attributed to Burgundian models.

The Wageck Pfaffmann winery is one of the established houses of the southern Palatinate, where the mild climate and diverse soils offer ideal conditions for white wine. The Sülzner Weg site provides the Chardonnay with a concise mineral line due to the lime content in the soil, which distinguishes the wine from broad-fruity styles.

In the glass, it shows ripe pear and white peach, plus a hint of hazelnut and a subtle creamy texture. The acidity is integrated but present enough to give the wine drive and length. The finish is dry and characterized by a fine minerality.

Good with veal schnitzel with lemon butter, fried zander, or a ripe Brie de Meaux. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C.
