Chardonnay Select QW Vienna

The Chardonnay Select from Fritz Wieninger shows the more powerful side of the grape variety without losing its structure. It grows in Viennese vineyards, and the grapes for this wine are specifically selected. A portion of the wine matures in wood, which gives it additional depth.

The Wieninger winery is one of the defining estates in Vienna and manages its vineyards according to organic guidelines. The Chardonnay Select (Qualitätswein Wien, 2023 vintage) represents the more sophisticated line of the house.

On the nose, you will find ripe stone fruit, yellow apple, and citrus, along with subtle nutty notes and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry, dense, and balanced: juicy fruit, well-integrated acidity, and a creamy texture. The fine wood spice gives the finish structure and length.

Serve it at 10 to 12 °C. It pairs well with roasted sweetbreads, chicken in cream sauce, risotto with mushrooms, or mature mountain cheese.
