Chardonnay Ried Schüttenberg QW Carnuntum 0.75L

Chardonnay from Carnuntum — that is not a matter of course. Gerhard Markowitsch, known primarily for his red wines from the Pannonian wine region east of Vienna, shows with this single-vineyard wine from the Ried Schüttenberg that the region also provides the right climate for white Burgundy varieties: hot summers, continental dryness, mineral-rich soils.

In the glass, a dry white wine with a clear structure presents itself. Ripe pear and yellow apple form the fruit base, joined by a salty minerality that makes the Schüttenberg soil palpable. The finish is long and carried by a fresh line of acidity that gives the wine tension.

Weingut Markowitsch works with organic certification and has made a name for itself as one of the most reliable addresses in Carnuntum — with a consistent focus on expression of origin rather than international appeal.

On the table, this Chardonnay goes well with Wiener Schnitzel, grilled zander, or an aged mountain cheese. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C.
