Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG Tuscany 0.75L

The Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri is one of the most reliable addresses of this Tuscan denominazione — a Sangiovese Grosso that combines the strictness of the DOCG rules with the warm character of the winery.

Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri and is located in the south of Montalcino, where the soils of galestro and clay give the Sangiovese special minerality. The so-called Etichetta Bianca — the white label — has stood for the classic entry into the house since 1978: a cuvée of different vineyards that shows the character of the estate as a whole.

In the glass, it shows dark cherry and pomegranate, plus earth, dried herbs, and a hint of tobacco. The tannins are present but not coarse — typical for an aged Brunello with backbone and at the same time a silky texture. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with an invigorating acidity that carries the wine at the table for many hours.

Recommendation: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, game ragù, or mature Pecorino di Pienza. Drinking temperature 17–18 °C, feel free to decant an hour beforehand.
