Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Organic

A Brunello with density and a clear structure: Sangiovese from Montalcino, dry, with red fruit and fine wood spice.

Col d'Orcia is one of the traditional wineries of the appellation. In 1890, the Franceschi family bought the estate, and in 1933 they presented their Brunelli at the wine exhibition in Siena, long before the world recognized the potential of this wine. Since 1973, the estate has belonged to the Cinzano family, who expanded the vineyard area to 140 hectares today, 108 of which are Brunello. Count Francesco Marone Cinzano, chairman since 1992, gradually converted the viticulture to biodynamic. Today, Col d'Orcia is considered the largest organic winery in Tuscany.

In the glass, sour cherry and red currant appear, closely interwoven with fine wood spice. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated; the ripe tannins support the structure, and a pleasant acidity keeps it fresh. Pairs well with pappardelle with game ragù, Bistecca alla Fiorentina, or aged Pecorino. Serve at 16–18 °C; a decanter gives it some air beforehand.
