Bourgogne Aligoté Vielles Vignes

Aligoté is the second white grape variety of Burgundy, stands in the shadow of Chardonnay, and yet has its own profile: taut, citrusy, with lively acidity. This Bourgogne Aligoté Vieilles Vignes from Domaine Caire-Deveze from the 2023 vintage shows this style clearly and without detours.

“Vieilles Vignes” stands for older vines, which generally deliver smaller but more concentrated yields. The Bourgogne Aligoté appellation locates the wine in Burgundy, where this grape variety has long been part of the regional tradition.

In the glass, a light white wine appears. On the nose, fresh citrus notes meet fine floral aromas. On the palate, it appears slim and taut; the acidity draws a clear line into the straightforward finish.

Serve it at 8–10 °C. It pairs well with oysters, gougères, snails in herb butter, or fresh goat cheese. Classically, a Kir also works well with it: a dash of crème de cassis in the glass, topped up with the Aligoté.
