BLANDY'S 10 Years Old SERCIAL - Dry
Sercial is the driest and liveliest grape variety of Madeira—and Blandy's 10-year-old shows why this style is so special: not a soft flatterer, but a wine with backbone, salt, and length.
Blandy's is the oldest Madeira house on the island, family-owned since 1811 and still the benchmark for the classic island style today. The grapes for the Sercial grow in the higher, cooler regions of Madeira, where the Atlantic breeze preserves the natural acidity. Ten years of aging give the wine depth without breaking its tautness.
In the glass, dried citrus zest, roasted almonds, and a distinct hint of sea salt. On the palate, taut, almost cutting acidity, salty minerality, and hints of walnut as well as a light caramel note. The finish is long, dry, and slightly piquant—the hallmark of a well-aged Sercial.
Classically served as an aperitif slightly chilled (10–12 °C). Pairs excellently with almonds, olives, Serrano ham, or strong hard cheeses. Also a convincing accompaniment to clear fish soups or grilled seafood.
