BLANDY'S 10 Years Old BUAL - Medium-rich
A matured Bual from Madeira — this means: oxidative depth, natural sweetness, and an acidity that keeps everything in balance. Bual is the second-richest of the classic Madeira styles and sits in terms of taste between the lighter Verdelho and the luscious Malmsey.
Blandy's is one of the oldest Madeira houses of all — founded in 1811, still family-owned today, and closely intertwined with the island's history. The 10-year-old Solera product shows what controlled oxidation and the unique Estufagem process can extract from the Bual grape: aromas of dried fig, raisin, and dark caramel, underscored by mocha and fine roasted notes. The texture is full and warm, the sweetness ripe but never heavy — the typical Madeira acidity runs through every sip as a structuring backbone and ensures a long, slightly spicy finish.
Served neat at room temperature, it makes the biggest impression — as an accompaniment to blue cheese, walnut tart, or dark chocolate. It also works excellently with crème brûlée or a piece of Pecorino with honey. Serving temperature: 14–16 °C.
