Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG Second Release 0.75L

A Brunello that embodies the reputation of the Biondi-Santi estate: strict, long-lived, unmistakably Tuscan. The Riserva is only released in vintages that the winery itself classifies as exceptional — a decision the estate has consistently upheld for generations.

Biondi-Santi is considered the original house of Brunello di Montalcino. Since the 19th century, the family has cultivated exclusively Sangiovese Grosso in Montalcino, specifically their own BBS11 clone, which is known for its structure and longevity. The vineyards around the Il Greppo estate are among the most historically significant in the entire appellation.

In the glass, it shows a deep red, mature appearance with garnet reflections. Aromas of dried cherry, leather, tobacco, and iron herbs unfold on the nose — the classic profile of a mature Sangiovese from Montalcino. On the palate, the wine presents itself with a firm tannin structure, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with hints of rosemary and dark spices.

Best served at 16–18 °C, ideally after an hour of decanting. Pairs with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised wild boar, or mature Pecorino di Pienza.
