Barbera d'Asti Lavignone DOCG 0.75L
Pico Maccario's Lavignone shows what Barbera d'Asti can do in its purest form: vibrant fruit, clear structure, no fuss — simply wine to drink.
Pico Maccario cultivates its vineyards in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont, focusing on Barbera, the dominant grape variety here for centuries. The DOCG classification Barbera d'Asti guarantees a defined origin and strict quality standards within the region—Lavignone is the accessible entry point into the winery's portfolio.
In the glass, it shines a rich ruby red. The nose reveals sour cherry and red plum, with a hint of violet. On the palate, the Barbera brings its typical fresh acidity—present, but not sharp—which keeps the wine lively. Light tannins, medium body, short, fruity finish.
Served at 14–16 °C, it pairs well with pasta al ragù, salumi platters, or a hearty tomato sauce. Not a wine for aging—drink now, preferably from the 2022–2024 vintage.
