Barbaresco DOCG 1.5L

Gaja's Barbaresco is one of Italy's most famous wines — a Nebbiolo from the heart of Piedmont that combines the power of the Langhe hills with an elegance typical of the appellation. The magnum bottle (1.5 liters) allows for slower maturation in the glass and is particularly suitable for larger dinner parties.

Angelo Gaja has built the family winery of the same name in Alba over decades into the international reference for Barbaresco. The sites around the town of Barbaresco provide Nebbiolo with a distinct minerality that is unparalleled in Piedmont. In the glass, it shows a luminous, deep red color with a high anthocyanin content.

On the nose, the wine opens with roses and wild strawberries, followed by marzipan, wild fennel, and a hint of juniper. On the palate, it shows the tannin structure characteristic of Nebbiolo — firm but not harsh — combined with lively acidity and a long, spicy finish.

On the table, it pairs with Brasato al Barolo, mature Parmigiano Reggiano, or wild boar ragout. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Decant for at least one hour before pouring.
