Angostura Rum 1787 15yo 0.7L

Angostura 1787 is an aged blended rum from Trinidad that captures the long distillation tradition of the House of Angostura in a clearly structured, sensorially complex bottle. The name refers to 1787 — the year the first sugar mill was built on the famous Lapeyrouse plantation in Trinidad.

For this rum, distillates were selected that have been aged for 15 years in charred oak barrels. The color is deep mahogany brown, the result of long barrel aging without artificial coloring. The nose reveals banana, dried plum, and apple fruit — a sweet but not intrusive bouquet. On the palate, toffee, dark prunes, and warm oak notes follow, which appear well-integrated due to the aging process. The finish is long, with a slight spice that keeps the sweetness in balance.

The 1787 unfolds its full aroma profile best when enjoyed neat at room temperature — a large glass, minimal distractions. If desired, add a single ice cube, which opens up the wood notes slightly. It makes a great digestif after a hearty meal, as well as a pairing for dark chocolate or a ripe hard cheese.

Angostura

Produced in Trinidad since 1824, Angostura Bitters is an essential part of the bar world. What began as a stomach remedy by a German army surgeon is now the most widely used bitter concentrate worldwide. The original Aromatic Bitters – recognizable by the oversized label that is still intentionally placed incorrectly today – brings depth to Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or champagne cocktails with a single dash. In addition, Orange Bitters stand for citrus freshness and Cocoa Bitters for dark, nutty accents. Dosage: sparingly – one to two dashes are enough.
