Single-varietal Sangiovese from the high altitudes of the Vigneto Alto – this is the promise that Petra fulfills with the Alto Toscana. No blend, no compromise, but a direct response to what the clay and limestone soil in this location has to offer.

The Petra winery is located in the southern part of Tuscany, in the Maremma near Suvereto – a region that has only received international attention since the 1990s, but offers ideal conditions for red wine with its mineral-rich soils and the influence of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The high altitude of the Vigneto Alto ensures cooler nights, which give the Sangiovese time to develop acidity and structure without losing fruit.

In the glass, the typical Sangiovese character appears: sour cherry, dried tomato, and a hint of violet on the nose; on the palate, lively acidity, medium tannins, and an earthy, slightly spicy finish. Not a heavy wine, but a precise one with a clear line.

Pairs well with Tuscan cuisine: Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar salami, or a mature Pecorino. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
