In the hamlet of Soumard, in the heart of Saint-Andelain in the Pouilly-Fumé region, lies the family estate Domaine de la Loge – founded in the 19th century, now owned by David Millet. Two grape varieties define the portfolio: Sauvignon Blanc and the increasingly rare Chasselas, both rooted in this soil for generations.

What defines the terroir of Soumard is flint – locally called "silex". This soil gives the wines a distinctive minerality: cool spice, an almost smoky depth, and the lively acidity that characterizes a good Pouilly-Fumé. David Millet works with traditional methods, but employs modern techniques where they enhance the clarity and freshness of the fruit – without overpowering the terroir.
