Flor de Caña –
Rum from the volcano, family-owned since 1890
Flor de Caña is created at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano in Nicaragua – in the hands of the Solórzano family since 1890. What is distilled here follows a clear line: no added sugar, no artificial flavors, 0.0 g/l residual sugar. The rum stands on its own, without corrections.
The Compania Licorera de Nicaragua is the first and so far only spirits brand worldwide with Fairtrade certification and a CO₂-neutral operation. Since 2005, over 800,000 trees have been planted – one million is the stated goal by 2025. Sustainability here is not a marketing promise, but part of the company structure.
In the glass, the various aging stages of Flor de Caña show what slow barrel aging in a tropical climate achieves: from fresh, slightly floral notes in the younger bottlings to dried fruits, vanilla, and a long, dry finish in the aged vintages. Neat, on ice, or as the base of a classic cocktail.
