Flor de Cana Rum Centenario Gold 18 years old
Flor de Caña Centenario Gold 18 is a mature Nicaraguan rum with a distinct oak character — round, warm and made for pure enjoyment.
The Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, operating since 1890, produces Flor de Caña at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano. The distillery relies on five distillations and a slow-aging process: no added sugar, no artificial coloring—aging in American oak barrels for over 18 years does all the work. The result is a rum that has won multiple gold medals at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, including four consecutive Best in Class awards.
In the glass, it displays a deep amber color. The nose offers caramel, dried fig, and vanilla, underpinned by tobacco and toasted oak. On the palate, it has a creamy texture, notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit, and a long, spicy finish with a hint of cinnamon.
Neat at room temperature or over a single ice cube – this is how the 18 years of barrel aging best showcase its benefits. For those who wish to use it in a cocktail: An Old Fashioned with this rum needs little more than a dash of Angostura bitters.
