Charles Tanqueray tested over 300 recipes before finalizing his London Dry Gin in the mid-19th century. What remained are four botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica root, and licorice. No experiments for the sake of experimenting — but a decision for clarity and repeatability.
To this day, it is distilled in "Old Tom," the same copper pot still that bears the house's signature. The result is a gin with a distinct juniper structure, fresh coriander notes, and a dry, slightly spicy finish — a style that works just as well in a Martini as it does in a classic Gin & Tonic with minimal garnish.
