Volnay "Clos des Ducs" Premier Cru 3.0L

The Clos des Ducs is the heart of the Marquis d'Angerville estate — a monopole Premier Cru that is entirely family-owned and one of the most famous single vineyards in Volnay. This 3.0-liter magnum format is a particularly advantageous volume for Pinot Noir: the slower maturation in large format preserves fruit and structure over a long period.

The estate in Volnay, located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, has been managed by the d'Angerville family for generations and is considered one of the most reliable addresses in the Côte d'Or. The Clos des Ducs grows on calcareous clay-marl soil in one of the higher-altitude vineyards of Volnay — which shapes the style: more cool and structured than opulent.

In the glass, the 2022 vintage shows aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, and fresh plum, underscored by a hint of violets and fine earth. The palate is medium-bodied with silky, precise tannins, lively acidity, and a long, slightly mineral finish — typical Volnay, typical d'Angerville.

Best served at 16–17 °C. Pairs well with saddle of venison, duck confit, or a ripe Époisses. The 3.0-liter bottle is suitable for special occasions at the table — a wine that carries conversation.
