Five decades of barrel aging, 20% vol, 0.5 liters in a gift box: This Tinta Negra from Henriques & Henriques shows how much depth and tension a Madeira can develop without feeling heavy.

Henriques & Henriques is one of the traditional Madeira houses and produces its wines on the island of Madeira. Tinta Negra is the most widespread grape variety on the island and produces wines with great character. Here, it meets an exceptionally long aging period with the oxidative character typical of Madeira.

In the glass, the aromas layer themselves: first dried fruits and walnut, then toffee, coffee, and a hint of smoke, plus citrus accents. On the palate, a lively acidity carries the wine, keeps it clear, and leads to a long, calm finish.

Recommendation: Serve at about 14 to 16 °C in small glasses, neat after a meal. It goes with mature hard cheese, roasted nuts, or dark chocolate. It also makes a great gift for special occasions.
