Seckinger Pinot Gris from limestone

Pinot Gris from limestone — that sounds like a promise, and the wine delivers on its promise: mineral, substantial, with a depth that one would not expect from a light white wine.

The Seckinger winery is located in the Palatinate, one of Germany's most important Pinot Gris regions. Limestone soils shape the style here: they produce wines with a firm structure and a salty minerality on the finish, which arises purely from the soil.

In the glass, it reveals a dense body with a truly creamy texture. The nose opens with aromas of pastry, vanilla bean, and dried herbs—complemented by a subtle hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is juicy and vibrant, with an invigorating acidity that balances freshness and weight. Notes of biscuit and apple strudel lend the wine its warming character. The finish is long, saline, and accompanied by dried apple peel and fresh hay.

Recommendation: Veal schnitzel in cream sauce, pike-perch fillet with beurre blanc, or mature Munster cheese. Serving temperature 11–13 °C. Drink now or store until 2027.
