Saint Romain AOP 0.75L

Saint-Romain is located higher than most appellations of the Côte de Beaune — you can feel that in the glass. The Chardonnay from Maison Joseph Drouhin shows the cool, mineral-influenced side of Burgundy: taut acidity, clear fruit, not a gram of over-ripeness.

Drouhin has been one of the most reliable addresses in Burgundy since 1880. The vineyards in Saint-Romain root in argilo-calcareous subsoil — limestone and clay in combination, which give the wine its characteristic freshness and mineral pull. The high altitude slows down ripening, extends the vegetation period, and ensures the lively acidity structure that distinguishes Saint-Romain from the lower-lying Côte de Beaune appellations.

In the glass, light golden yellow appears. Aromas of white peach, citrus peel, and chalk, underneath a hint of elderflower. Slim on the palate, with fresh acidity and a dry, slightly mineral finish. Not a heavy wine — one that convinces through precision.

Best served at 10–12 °C. Pairs with zander or trout, with goat cheese, or a simple poulet rôti.
