Pernand-Vergelesses Rouge Premier Cru Ile des Vergelesses

Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru Île des Vergelesses, Côte de Beaune. Limestone-clay soils and east-facing slope give it freshness: cherry and red forest berries, fine spice, soft tannins, long finish. Goes with roast beef, braised lamb, game, or cheese platter.

Pernand-Vergelesses Rouge Premier Cru Ile des Vergelesses

Pinot Noir from the Côte de Beaune, vinified dry and with the typical restraint of a Burgundy: This Premier Cru focuses on freshness and elegance instead of power.

Domaine Thénard produces it from the Île des Vergelesses vineyard in Pernand-Vergelesses. The soils are rich in limestone and clay and well-drained; the plot is oriented to the east. This gives the grapes a taut structure and promotes aromatic complexity. The 2021 vintage appears in a clear ruby red.

On the nose, juicy cherries and red forest berries meet subtly spicy notes. On the palate, the wine appears harmonious and full-bodied; the acidity is finely integrated, and the tannins are soft. The finish remains long and carries the fruit far.

Recommendation: Roast beef, braised lamb, or game dishes, as well as a cheese platter with aged varieties. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C and let it breathe briefly in the glass beforehand.
