Orange & Chocolate Shortbread Rounds

Shortbread rounds from Great Britain with butter, orange, and chocolate: three ingredients that are firmly established in the British baking tradition. Cartwright & Butler presents them as round biscuits for tea time.

The shortcrust pastry breaks briefly and melts delicately on the tongue, with the butter carrying the flavor. The orange adds a fruity, slightly tart note, while the chocolate rounds it off with cocoa depth. The finish remains buttery.

Serve them with tea or coffee in the afternoon. As an after-dinner accompaniment, a semi-dry Port or Marsala works well, as their nutty sweetness picks up the orange note. The rounds also work well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
