A Blended Malt Scotch Whisky at cask strength: The Old Perth Cask Strength comes into the bottle at 58.6% vol. and carries the power of sherry-matured malts directly into the glass.

The brand dates back to 1908. Peter Thomson created it in Perth and made it famous with an unusually high malt content. Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers has relaunched it as a blended malt. For this bottling, only malts from the Speyside region around Glenlivet matured in sherry casks are blended.

On the nose, powerful sherry notes meet dark fruits and spicy accents. On the palate come dark chocolate, toffee and dried fruits, plus pepper, ginger, clove and cinnamon. The oak brings spice without dominating. The finish is long and carried by sherry sweetness, spices and fruit aromas.

Recommendation: neat in a nosing glass, at this strength preferably with a few drops of water so that the aromas open up. Pairs as a digestif after a meal, with dark chocolate or with a cigar on a fireside evening.
