Muscadet sur lie AC Muscadet Sévre et Maine

A Muscadet that shows how precise a lean Loire white wine can be: single-varietal from Melon de Bourgogne, vinified dry, and with the fine yeast note that the sur lie aging brings with it.

Marc Brédif is at home in the Loire, and this Muscadet bears the Sèvre et Maine appellation, the heart of the growing region around Nantes. During sur lie aging, the wine remains on its lees, which gives it more texture and a slightly yeasty nuance.

In the glass, the 2023 glows light yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, lime, pear, orange, and fresh herbs meet. On the palate, it feels elegant and mineral, with citric tension, good substance, and a lingering finish. The smooth texture rounds off the clear acidity.

Serve it at 8 to 10 °C. It pairs well with oysters, mussels, fried sea fish, or a fresh goat cheese. It works just as well as a refreshing aperitif.
