Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche AC Grand Cru 0.75L
The Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche is one of the few white wines in the world where the name alone sets an expectation — and it regularly fulfills it. Maison Joseph Drouhin has been vinifying this Grand Cru for decades on behalf of the de Laguiche family, whose plot lies in the heart of the Montrachet site, on that narrow strip between Puligny and Chassagne that defines the world's top Chardonnay.
In the glass, it glows deep golden. The nose shows toasted hazelnut, white peach, and beeswax, underneath a mineral core reminiscent of chalk and damp stone. On the palate, the wine is dense and precise at the same time: a creamy texture, carried by lively acidity that supports the long, salty-spicy finish. No element pushes itself to the fore — everything is in motion, but nothing is out of control.
Serve it at 12–14 °C in a large Burgundy goblet. Classic companions are lobster with sauce Nantaise, scallops with truffle foam, or a ripe Brie de Meaux. For those who like it simpler: buttered langoustines or a good piece of grilled turbot need nothing more than this wine.
